Allowance for the Survivor
If you are between 60 and 64, have a low or modest income, and your spouse or common-law partner (same sex or opposite sex) has died, you may qualify for the Allowance for the Survivor.

Gradual retirement
Phased or gradual retirement allow older employees, usually with long service records, to progressively reduce their working time and workload over a period of time instead of abruptly shifting from full-time employment to retirement.

Mandatory Retirement and the Canadian Human Rights Act
The present study consists of four parts. Part I examines the key substantive issues involved in the debate on whether or not mandatory retirement policies should be eliminated and replaced by flexible retirement policies. Part II presents data on the incidence of mandatory retirement policies among organizations in the federal sector and the perceived impact of eliminating these policies. Part III provides an analysis of the current legal situation concerning mandatory retirement in Canada. Finally, Part IV outlines some policy options for amending the CHRA's provisions concerning mandatory retirement and provides a brief commentary on these options.

Old Age Security Payment Rates

Phased Retirement
Phased retirement is broadly defined as any program allowing for gradual decreases in working time and workload instead of an abrupt move from full-time employment to retirement.
Phased retirement may take one of two forms: a pre-retirement gradual reduction in hours (or days) of work or post-retirement part-time work for pensioners who wish to remain employed.
