Canada Pension Plan There are three kinds of Canada Pension Plan benefits: disability benefits (which include benefits for disabled contributors and benefits for their dependent children); retirement pension; and survivor benefits (which include the death benefit, the survivor's pension and the children's benefit). If you contributed to the CPP, you are entitled to a retirement pension at the age of 65. You must apply to receive these benefits, and you should apply at least 6 months before you want to receive them. You can apply as early as 60, but your benefits will be reduced.
