Reducing Poverty among Older Women: The Potential of Retirement Incomes Policies Poverty rates among the elderly have been reduced over the last two decades although the majority of older women, who are on their own, remain poor. Retirement income policies could be used to reduce poverty among the future elderly and ensure the financial security of women in old age.
